John Cox is our Youth Pastor. Every day young people are faced with important choices that they have to make. Here at the Alternative we try to offer an environment where those decisions can be made by encouragement, support, and a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our hope at the Alternative is that young people will have a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. We hope to make that happen by relevant teaching of the Bible, contemporary worship, and fellowship with other young Christians.


The Alternative meets on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. The gatherings are geared to encourage and motivate young people in their walk with Jesus. They include a time of worship, fellowship, and Bible teaching geared for students, as well as providing some variety in the schedule with nights of worship, game nights, and seasonal parties. We hope to meet the needs of every young person who walks through our doors on Wednesday nights by showing them the love of Jesus. Many times Wednesday nights are led by young people.

Youth activities are a big part of the Alternative (We are known to get a little wild and crazy). Activities provide a time for young people to build relationships while having lots of fun together. They're also a great way for teens to find out that walking with Jesus is a blast! During the school year, activities can range from car rallies to theme park days (Magic Mountain, Disneyland, etc.). Annual events include winter camps, summer camps and mission trips.
