Having just come through a car accident that in the
human sense should have been much worse than it was, I am so glad to
be living, breathing and walking! Experiences like this sure have a
way of putting life in its rightful perspective, don't they?
With
that in mind, let's enjoy each other and what God is doing among us
in a fresh way this Summer season. Would
you consider marking your calendar for two important events that
will help us do so?
First, I am excited to share with you at our
In some ways, they are different because of some news
from the City that I admittedly moped around about for a couple of
days. Once I put the pity party behind me, I began to see how God is
really in this. And then, when a major car accident happens ...
well, you get the "perspective-changing" analogy.
Also, the Church Council will be bringing a proposal
to vote on the sale of our parsonage (church-owned house that the
Pastor lives in,
for those unfamiliar with churchy lingo).
Colleen and I have been contemplatively praying and
discussing how we could re-enter the housing market, which as most
know is near-impossible with today's housing market in our area.
That has led to discussion with the Church Council, who have
laboriously put together a proposal for us to purchase the parsonage
(which we currently live in) from the church.
If you're an official member of NewHeart (which
happens by completing the "Framing" Membership class and turning in
the Membership Questionnaire at the end), you're eligible to
vote on the proposal. In case you're not aware, as a Foursquare
Church, members only vote on real estate transactions and
ratification of Church Council Members.
All that said, even if you are NOT a member of
NewHeart, but are a regular attender and considering membership in
the future, I would really like to ask you to be there on June 11
for the Building A Blessing update.
The second event I hope you can join us for is our
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a Church
Family BBQ Picnic on the church campus immediately following the
Celebration. Tickets for the BBQ will be available at church on the
4th and 11th (the BBQ will be a fundraiser for Building A
Blessing).
We'll have music, snow cones, jumpers for the kids
and a dunk tank, complete with myself and Johhny available for
dunking (for a slight fee of course, proceeds also to raise funds
for Building A Blessing). It's sure to be a memorable celebration
and an awesome way to kick off our Summer, so mark your calendar and
make it a date!
